We’re very pleased to announce that our founder, Florence Brocklesby, has been shortlisted for the Women and Diversity in Law awards 2023 in the Law Firm Leader of the Year category.
Florence was recognised for leading the way in supporting working mothers in the law whilst becoming the go-to legal practice for women in professional services seeking advice on discrimination.
At a time when the legal industry is struggling with female retention, almost 90% of Bellevue’s lawyers are women, and many, including Florence, have young families or are returners.
With the legal industry asking itself some tough questions about culture, values and its commitment to equality and diversity, Florence has demonstrated what is possible when a positive and ethical culture enables lawyers to do their best work for clients.
Over the last nine years, her commitment to fully flexible working and providing quality opportunities to working parents has remained central to Bellevue Law’s culture. She supports the team with great infrastructure and completely agile and flexible working without compromising on the quality of work they can expect to undertake.
She was also recognised for her commitment to ethical practices. Bellevue Law was the first UK law firm to be accredited by the Good Business Charter and is seeking B Corp accreditation, which will include a legal obligation to balance purpose and profit.
Florence Brocklesby, who’s shortlisted alongside nine others, said:
“I’m very proud to have built a firm that has a positive and ethical culture in its DNA, one that enables lawyers to do their best work for clients.
“It’s such a pleasure to be recognised amongst this group of individuals, teams, businesses and not-for-profit organisations.”
The winner will be revealed at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, the 21st of March, 2023.
