Paula is a senior consultant with extensive experience of advising both employers and employees on all UK employment law-related matters, both contentious and non-contentious.
She has particular experience in handling complex employment disputes in the Employment Tribunal, and the associated settlement negotiations. She is highly experienced in discrimination and whistleblowing litigation. She frequently acts for senior executives in dispute and severance situations and when doing so is able to draw on extensive experience of defending such matters, acting for global and national employers.
Paula also specialises in conducting disciplinary, grievance or other workplace investigations as a Workplace Investigator. Paula is particularly skilled at handling complex and/or senior level investigations where volumes of evidence may be high, where senior individuals are implicated in the allegations, where the issues are inherently of a legal nature, where litigation is threatened, and in all cases where a robust but sensitive approach may be required. She has over 10 years of experience conducting independent fact finding investigations across multiple sectors including NHS employers, local authorities, educational institutions, financial services, construction & manufacturing firms, defence organisations, agricultural employers and a range of SME businesses. She has dealt with collective as well as individual grievances and is well used to dealing with represented complainants or trade union involvement.
Paula trained and qualified as a solicitor at leading international firm Eversheds LLP (now Eversheds Sutherland), where she spent 11 years of her career. Since then, she has continued her career in a consultancy capacity with a number of firms, including Eversheds Sutherland, Birketts LLP and boutique employment law firm Worden Richmond LLP.
