Susie is a specialist employment lawyer who advises individuals and businesses on all aspects of employment law/HR-related matters.
Susie advises senior managers, professionals and C-suite executives over a wide range of sectors (financial services, media and advertising, professional services, education and the public sector) with a focus on helping them to resolve and settle disputes. She is particularly adept at dealing with complex and emotionally charged situations where individuals are facing restructuring, disciplinary proceedings (including cross-over regulatory and criminal matters) or grappling with long-running and unresolved grievances and whistleblowing disclosures.
She has particular expertise and an exemplary track record acting for under-represented groups in internal procedures and litigation, tackling all areas of discrimination at the highest level of private business, educational institutions and the public sector, sensitively yet robustly protecting her clients’ interests.
She also provides non-contentious services, such as contract reviews and negotiation and amicable exits.
Susie also helps businesses deal with challenging HR issues, including workplace investigations, complex grievances/disciplinaries, reorganisations and Tribunal litigation. Susie also supports organisational projects and contract/policy work, helping businesses approach their HR ethically as well as legally. She has recently conducted several high-profile investigations into allegations of workplace sexual harassment and bullying, reporting/presenting her findings and recommendations to the board and consulting on next steps.
She brings a supportive, clear and practical approach, focused on achieving the best outcome for her client.
Susie has 15 years’ experience in private practice at Finers Stephens Innocent, Howard Kennedy and most recently as a Partner and Head of Department at social justice firm Hodge Jones & Allen. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Susie was a senior manager at Procter & Gamble in Geneva.
She is ranked in Chambers & Partners 2024 for her work with employees and unions, and senior executives.
Susie has been a regular contributor to Radio 4’s Money Box advising listeners on their rights and giving practical advice to deal with non-compliant employers.
In her spare time, Susie loves hanging out with her family and friends at music festivals and coaching rugby at her local club Ironsides.
