Bellevue Law has announced the expansion of its Commercial Disputes team with the appointment of Catherine McBride, a highly regarded senior disputes practitioner with over 25 years’ experience advising on complex, high-value and cross-border disputes.
The appointment further strengthens Bellevue Law’s offering in commercial litigation, regulatory investigations and financial services disputes, reinforcing the firm’s position as a leading disputes boutique, with further growth of the commercial disputes team planned for coming months.
Catherine brings extensive experience advising clients on litigation, investigations and regulatory matters. She has a broad commercial disputes practice, acting for financial institutions, corporates, private equity firms, professional services firms and individuals.
Her expertise includes complex and cross-border litigation involving contract and shareholder disputes, mis-selling of financial instruments, misrepresentation, negligence and fraud, as well as conduct and employment-related matters. Catherine also has significant experience advising on regulatory and law enforcement matters and managing domestic and cross-border internal investigations and risk management issues.
Catherine has previously held senior roles at Linklaters and Latham & Watkins, where she was a partner in the Litigation & Trial department in both Hong Kong and London, and a member of the firm’s White-Collar Defence & Investigations Practice and Financial Institutions Group. She also brings substantial in-house experience, having worked at EY, KPMG and Swiss Re, and having held senior roles including Head of Litigation for APAC at Deutsche Bank and interim General Counsel and Head of Litigation at Royal Bank of Canada.
She has been recognised for her work managing complex cross-border disputes and contentious regulatory matters and was awarded “Best in Practice – Litigation” by the Women In Business Awards Asia. Catherine is also recognised for her wider efforts to support and promote female talent within the legal profession.
