As we mark Pro Bono Week, we are proud to celebrate the individuals and initiatives that reflect Bellevue Law’s commitment to improving access to justice and using legal expertise to create a positive social impact.

This year, we are delighted that Bellevue Law has been shortlisted for Pro Bono Firm of the Year at the UK Chambers Solicitors Awards 2026. We are also incredibly proud that Georgina Calvert-Lee has been shortlisted in the DEI/Pro Bono: Outstanding Contribution category, recognising her dedication, leadership and impact in this important area. These nominations are a reflection of the culture that exists across our firm, where colleagues are passionate about using their legal skills to support individuals and organisations who might otherwise struggle to access legal advice and representation.

Supporting Women Through Rights of Women

A number of Bellevue Law colleagues (Ann Robson, Florence Brocklesby, Chloe Grant, Anjali Malik, Leigh Edgar and Georgina Calvert-Lee) volunteer with Rights of Women, a charity that provides free legal advice and information to women across the UK. Through its legal advice lines, women can receive support on family, employment, immigration and criminal law matters.

By volunteering their time and expertise, our team helps women better understand their legal rights and access the support they need during challenging circumstances. We are incredibly proud of the colleagues who contribute to this vital service and the difference they help make every day.

Recognising Georgina’s Contribution to Can’t Buy My Silence

We are also proud to recognise Georgina’s longstanding support for Can’t Buy My Silence, the campaign working to end the misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that prevent people from speaking about discrimination, harassment and other forms of misconduct.

Over many years, Georgina has contributed her expertise to policy discussions, legislative reform, public awareness initiatives and support for individuals affected by NDA misuse. Her work has helped advance important conversations around accountability, transparency and access to justice.

In support of Georgina’s Chambers nomination, Zelda Perkins, founder of Can’t Buy My Silence, praised Georgina’s significant contribution to the campaign and the wider movement for reform, highlighting the lasting impact of her pro bono commitment and expertise. Zelda commented;

“I am very pleased to provide this reference for Georgina Calvert Lee of Bellevue Law, whose contribution to the work of CBMS and to the wider movement to protect victims of discrimination, harassment and crime from the misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) has been exceptional.

Over the past five years, Georgina has been instrumental to the progress and success of CBMS and has had a significant impact on my own work. Her legal expertise and practical insight have been particularly important in relation to legislative reform addressing the misuse of NDAs. Her input into the Irish amendment to legislation banning the misuse of NDAs was highly significant, as was her contribution to the development of comparable protections in the UK. Her expertise has helped translate the experiences of victims into meaningful legal and policy change.

Georgina has also consistently used her professional platform to speak publicly and in the media about the misuse of NDAs. Her willingness to explain these complex and sensitive issues clearly has helped legitimise the concerns of victims and strengthen the wider campaign for reform. At my request, she has repeatedly contributed her time pro bono to panels, roundtables and government consultations, bringing both legal authority and a strong understanding of the lived experience behind these issues.

What distinguishes Georgina is her ability to combine detailed legal expertise with a clear understanding of the practical consequences of the law. She has been willing to challenge established approaches and engage constructively with difficult and emerging questions around confidentiality, accountability and access to justice. She has also advised me and, where appropriate, victims who have approached CBMS with complex NDA-related issue’s, pro bono. Her advice is consistently clear, honest, thoughtful and grounded in both principle and practical reality.

Her contribution extends well beyond individual cases. She has engaged across legal practice, government, policy development, public advocacy, media and civil society, reaching victims, lawyers, policymakers and the wider public. She has been a trusted and generous contributor to the growing international effort to ensure that NDAs cannot be used to silence people who have experienced discrimination, harassment or crime.

I believe Georgina deserves recognition for the significant role she has played in advancing this agenda.
Her sustained pro bono commitment, intellectual contribution and willingness to use her expertise to achieve meaningful change have made a lasting difference to CBMS and the people we support. “

Supporting Access to Justice Through the ELA Pro Bono Committee

We are also delighted to celebrate Chloe Grant’s appointment to the Employment Lawyers Association Pro Bono Committee.

The committee works to improve access to justice by connecting employment lawyers with opportunities to provide free legal advice and support through organisations such as Advocate and LawWorks. Through this work, the committee helps individuals navigate employment law issues and access expert legal assistance when they need it most.

A Firm-Wide Commitment

While we are proud of the recognition received by Bellevue Law and individual colleagues, Pro Bono Week is ultimately about recognising the collective efforts of those who dedicate their time, knowledge and expertise to helping others.

We are incredibly fortunate to work alongside colleagues who are committed to supporting their communities, championing access to justice and creating meaningful change through the law.

As we celebrate Pro Bono Week, we thank everyone across Bellevue Law who contributes to this important work.
