The Chancellor’s latest Budget announcement has sparked comment amongst the business community, with measures that will significantly impact both employers and workers over the coming years.

Key changes announced include a three-Year freeze on National Insurance and personal tax thresholds, a cap on salary-sacrifice schemes and higher statutory minimum wages.

“There is no reason for the changes anticipated in the Employment Rights Bill to impact on hiring in practice. Concerns about giving workers protection against unfair dismissal from their first day in the job are likely to be mitigated by some form of probation period in which different rules apply. This reform will potentially benefit businesses if it results in employers being more focused on managing performance, and addressing issues, during the early stages of employment.” View the full article here (subscription only) UK Budget A Lose-Lose For Employers And Workers – Law360 UK
